UKRAINIAN CREDIT COOPERATIVE IN EASTERN GALICIA AT THE END OF THE 19th AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY: HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE STUDY

Summary. The purpose of the research is to analyze the scientific achievements of Ukrainian historians regarding the development of Ukrainian credit institutions in Eastern Galicia at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. The research methodology is based on the generally recognized principles of historicism, systematicity, scientificity and author’s objectivity. The scientific novelty is in the study of the formation of historical knowledge about the formation and development of the Ukrainian credit cooperative at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. Conclusions. Historians of the Ukrainian diaspora, direct participants of the cooperative movement, contributed significantly to the study of the development of credit cooperatives in the Western Ukrainian lands. I. Vytanovych’s work on the development of Ukrainian cooperation is worth noting and the collection of articles "Regional Economic Society «Silskyi Hospodar» in Lviv 1899–1944". In modern Ukrainian historical science, this issue has been covered in the studies of Z. Komarinska, O. Brunov, S. Heley, V. Plysyuk, Z. Struk, R. Mateyko, etc.
