The impact of migration on social dynamics in Ukraine: a socio-political and ethnological analysis

The outbreak of war in Ukraine has affected many areas of political, economic and social life. In particular, the flight from the war zone has dramatically changed the migration situation both in Ukraine and in many EU countries. Nevertheless, the unprecedented influx of war refugees clearly raises questions about future developments and challenges related to the stay of Ukrainian citizens in Europe. This study is an attempt to assess the impact of internal and international migration on the social dynamics of Ukraine and other European countries. The features of internal migration in the regional aspect are considered. Trends in external migration are identified and characterized. It has been established that the main aspects of social policy in the context of current challenges and threats in Ukraine are as follows: ensuring social protection, integration of displaced persons, international cooperation, formation of social infrastructure, protection of human rights. The impact of migration and hostilities on income and employment in Ukraine is determined. It is established that mass emigration of able-bodied citizens can lead to a shortage of labor and changes in the demographic structure of the country. The main economic consequences of Ukrainian migration are outlined, namely: economic losses, reduction of the labor force, economic inequality, losses in foreign trade, budget deficit, the need for reforms and post-war reconstruction. The research has shown that migration in Ukraine affects the demographic situation, the country’s economy, the socio-cultural situation, and has certain political consequences.
