Balakhtar, V.V. The value of personal and professional self-actualization as a component of social workers' professional development. The article deals with the problem of individuals' personal and professional self-realization. The author analyzes a number of scientific publications on personal and professional self-realization motivation and the role of personal and professional self-realization in social workers' professional development as well as discusses different aspects of self-realization of professionals as creative individuals.The article presents the results of empirical research into social workers' personal and professional self-realization, in particular, "the professional self-development, self-education and self-improvement capability" and "creativity in doing work in accordance with the present-day requirements" were found to be the most developed indicators of professional self-realization.The value of social workers' personal and professional self-realization as a component of their professional development is in their ability to solve clients' problems, give the clients assistance (psychological, legal, educational, etc.) as well as in social workers' best realization of their personal and professional potentials.The author also discusses social workers' role in improving the social sphere in Ukraine, the manifestations and use of social workers' professional and personal qualities, the opportunities for achieving new goals, employment opportunities and satisfaction with work results.A considerable part of the respondents was shown to have difficulty in determining the value of their personal and professional self-realization and its role in their professional development as social workers.
