LEGISLATIVE ACTS ON THE LENGTH OF WORKING TIME IN RUSSIA IN THE RUN-UP TO THE FIRST RUSSIAN REVOLUTION OF 1905-1907

Анотація

In the article normative acts about duration of working time in Russia in the beginning of XX century are studied. On the one hand, the relative regularity of working time caused dissatisfaction of workers, on the other hand, the unwillingness of entrepreneurs to comply with even the existing laws was a key socio-political and legal problem of the period under study. Purpose: Study of normative acts on labor and working time and their influence on mass discontent and revolutionary events of 1905-1907. Methodology: dialectical method of cognition, systematic, formal-legal, comparative methods of research. Results: Taking into account the conducted research it was established that Labour and working time norms adopted at the end of XIX early XX centuries. The workers ‘ requirements were therefore to improve the situa-tion by limiting working hours, regulating the individual categories of workers: women, children. Mass riots of workers, created socio-political prerequisites for the revolutionary events of 1905-1907. Conclusion: The existence of a confrontation between the working class and the bourgeoisie did not give a positive change in the political and social situation in the state. The extreme resistance of large businessmen to solving the issues of factory legislation and working time contributed to the increasing of discontent among the working masses, which led to open armed clashes and socio-political Instability in the state. This created the preconditions for the beginning of the revolutionary events of 1905-1907.
