The article reveals the state of volunteering and the sphere of social services in Ukraine, support by the authorities towards it and social significance for the society, especially in the conditions of quarantine. In Ukraine, there are a lot of people in need of financial and moral assistance, namely: the elderly; people with partial or complete loss of motor activity, memory; people with incurable diseases and diseases that require long-term treatment; people with mental and behavioral disorders, including due to the use of psychoactive substances; persons with disabilities; homeless; unemployed; low-income people; behavioral disorders in children due to parental divorce; evasion of parental responsibilities by parents or guardians; loss of social ties, including while in prison; child abuse; gender-based violence; domestic violence; getting into a situation of human trafficking; damage caused by fire, natural disaster, catastrophe, hostilities, terrorist act, armed conflict, temporary occupation. During the epidemic of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Ukraine the number of people who need the help of volunteers and social workers has increased, so their demand is growing every day. They do vital work, but they cannot replace the state social security system. Therefore, the state should be aimed at providing additional social and economic guarantees in connection with the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-2019) to all supporting structures and organizations.
