A model of yearly deviations of day duration from the standard duration on the basis of the data for the period from 1832 to 2000
Анотація
A quasi-polynomial model is built for the average annual excess ΔD of the duration of the day to a standard duration of 86 400 s over the period from 1832 to 2000. The principal model components are a nonlinear trend and oscillations with periods of 64, 32, and 21 years. The mathematical descriptions of the main oscillations represent a periodic process with slowly varying amplitude. Two-channel autoregression analysis was performed with the aim to correlate the excess ΔD with some characteristics of solar activity, magnetospheric processes, and the Earth’s seismic activity. Possible sources and mechanisms of the generation of main day duration oscillations are discussed.
