Scientific and Educational Cooperation Between Ukraine and China in the Period 2016–2020
Анотація
The paper is concerned with evaluation of bilateral cooperation in science and education bet� ween Ukraine and China over the past five years based on the following indicators: joint research topics, agreements and memoranda, student exchange etc.The study uses primary and secondary sources of information, including responses of ministries and departments of Ukraine to official re� quests for scientific and educational cooperation with relevant institutions of China, the results of expert interviews of rectors of Ukrainian universities, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, national academies of sciences, as well as reports of international organizations and scien� tific publications.General scientific and qualitative research methods are used in the paper.The article systematizes the legal acts of scientific and educational cooperation, as well as presents the chronology and results of the Subcommittees on scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in space, cooperation in medicine, cooperation in education.The key indicators of scientific coope� ration of national academies of sciences of Ukraine with Chinese partners are analyzed: number of agreements, research directions and topics, publications.According to the analysis of indicators, a significant share of agreements on the implementation of joint Ukrainian-Chinese high-tech projects falls on research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.Based on official data received from the state authorities of Ukraine on the relevant requests, the analysis of the dis� tribution of students -citizens of China was carried out by the territorial location, universities and specialties; universities and specialties that are most in�demand among Chinese applicants and/or students have been identified.88 % of students -citizens of China, who preferred such specialties as philology, shipbuilding, management, music, secondary education, entered higher education in� stitutions in Kyiv, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv and Odesa.The article presents the results of a "field" study -interviews with rectors and vice-rectors of Ukrainian universities.Among the priority areas of bilateral cooperation between educational institutions are joint educational programs, joint re� search, distance pre-academic programs, specialized educational and professional programs related to the Chinese study, information and educational centres in China.
