THE IMPACT OF INSTITUTIONAL INITIATIVES AND CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON THE BEHAVIORAL STRATEGIES OF POOR HOUSEHOLDS
Анотація
The article examines the modern architecture of poverty alleviation through the lens of behavioral economics, focusing on mechanisms for correcting individual and group behavioral strategies among households experiencing poverty. A comprehensive framework is proposed that integrates state, technological, and societal instruments aimed at shifting behavior from short-term survival strategies toward long-term planning and investment in human capital. The core role is played by state regulation through fiscal policy and social transfers, which help mitigate consumption inertia and reorient households toward sustainable economic horizons. These measures are reinforced by educational and awareness programs that develop professional competencies and promote positive social models. An important complementary effect is generated by behavioral tools, including nudge-based information campaigns, digital platforms, and integrated databases that simplify interactions with public institutions, reduce cognitive load, and minimize decision fatigue and administrative barriers. While state and digital mechanisms form the institutional foundation, community initiatives and corporate social responsibility (CSR) significantly enhance system effectiveness. Ukrainian charitable foundations, such as “Starenki” and “Zhyttieliub”, illustrate the role of horizontal solidarity, trust, and social inclusion in overcoming behavioral barriers, including stigma, social isolation, and avoidance of assistance. Empirical evidence demonstrates a high level of civic engagement, confirming the importance of social norms and collective identity in shaping prosocial behavior. CSR functions as an institutional bridge aligning business objectives with societal needs through support for vulnerable groups, education, and inclusive development. It activates behavioral mechanisms such as reciprocity, signaling, and trust formation, which are critical for overcoming poverty traps. International experience, particularly Unilever’s Project Shakti, demonstrates the effectiveness of empowering vulnerable groups through entrepreneurship, leading to income growth, improved well-being, and the diffusion of successful behavioral models. The study concludes that the synergy of state policy, behavioral interventions, digitalization, community engagement, and CSR creates a resilient system for reducing poverty, overcoming cognitive and structural barriers, and fostering long-term economic inclusion and resilience in the context of contemporary challenges.
