CURRENT STATE AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS OF UKRAINIAN GAS EXTRACTION ENTERPRISES UNDER EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL RISKS

The article examines the current state of the gas producing industry of Ukraine, its contribution to the stability of the economy, tax revenues and support for the defense capability of the state. The dynamics of natural gas production by state and private enterprises, as well as the ratio of production volumes between them, are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to price trends on the domestic and European markets in 2023, in particular the dynamics of futures and spot contracts on the TTF gas hub. It is established that the stabilization of European prices is due to the diversification of supply, reduction in consumption and a high level of filling of underground storage facilities. The Ukrainian taxation system ensures fair accrual of rent, taking into account the resource surplus and the influence of military factors. In 2023, the average domestic gas sales price was $412 per 1,000 mі, which is 34% lower than TTF futures quotes. Gas producing companies allocated more than UAH 3 billion to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and social assistance to war victims. The results of the study confirm the key role of the industry in ensuring the economic stability, financial stability and defense capability of the country.
