Innovative and Technological Modernization of Food Industry Enterprises as a Tool for Ensuring Competitiveness.

Subject of the study. Theoretical, methodological, and applied aspects of innovative and technological modernization of food industry enterprises as a tool for ensuring their competitiveness under conditions of economic digitalization, wartime challenges, and transformation of the market environment. Purpose of the study. The purpose of the article is to investigate the features of innovative and technological modernization of food industry enterprises and to assess its impact on ensuring competitiveness. Research methods. The study applies a комплекс of general scientific and specialized research methods. In particular, methods of theoretical generalization and system analysis were used to investigate the essence of innovative and technological modernization, its role in ensuring the competitiveness of food industry enterprises, and to generalize scientific approaches to the digital transformation of production. Statistical and comparative analysis methods were employed to assess the current state of food industry development, the impact of wartime challenges on enterprise functioning, the dynamics of agricultural product processing, innovation activity, and the development of the industry’s export potential. In addition, the method of logical generalization was applied to substantiate the directions of innovative and technological modernization, the development of digital infrastructure, energy-efficient technologies, and mechanisms for enhancing the competitiveness of food industry enterprises. Results of the study. It has been established that innovative and technological modernization is one of the key factors in ensuring the competitiveness of food industry enterprises under conditions of digital economic transformation, wartime challenges, and increasing global competition. It has been proven that the implementation of modern production technologies, automated management systems, and digital solutions contributes to increasing production efficiency, optimizing resource utilization, reducing production losses, and improving food product quality. It has been determined that production digitalization and the integration of intelligent management systems enable enterprises to respond promptly to changes in market conditions, increase adaptability to crisis situations, and strengthen competitive positions in domestic and foreign markets. It has been substantiated that the full-scale war has significantly affected the functioning of food industry enterprises, causing disruptions in logistics chains, rising energy costs, shortages of investment resources, and a reduction in labor potential. It has been proven that under wartime economic conditions, the implementation of energy-efficient technologies, autonomous energy supply systems, and product traceability systems in accordance with international food safety standards becomes especially important. It has been determined that the negative impact of wartime risks increases the need for technological modernization of production, modernization of logistics infrastructure, and enhancement of enterprise resilience to external economic threats. It has been established that a positive trend in industry development is the intensification of innovation activity among food industry enterprises, as well as the spread of modern packaging technologies, automation, and product quality control systems. It has been proven that the integration of Industry 5.0 principles, ESG-oriented management, and circular economy approaches creates preconditions for increasing resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and enterprise competitiveness. The necessity of intensifying state support for modernization processes through preferential lending mechanisms, grant programs, stimulation of production digitalization, and the development of public-private partnerships in the field of technological renewal of the food industry in Ukraine has been substantiated.
