Концептуалізація та досвід вимірювання соціального відторгнення

Анотація

This paper addresses the existing experience of conceptualization and measurement of social exclusion in international and national empirical research. It describes examples of the concept application in the foreign and domestic empirical studies. It is determined, that foreign and domestic researchers gained substantial experience in measuring of social exclusion. Based on this experience, possible ways of social exclusion conceptualizing are offered. The structure of concept, its dimensions and characteristics (attributes) are defined. It is shown that the concept has a multidimensional structure that includes distributive (economic and structural) and relational (social and cultural) dimensions, which makes possible to expand the set of indicators for the analysis of the level of well-being. The social exclusion can be regarded as a distinctive feature of individual, household or social group. This feature is characterized by the following attributes: limitation of access to the necessary resources or social benefits; inability to participate in social activity that is regularly available to the majority of society members; failure to build meaningful social relationships with others. It has been identified that conceptualization and measurement methods depend on the conditions and living standards of the society, which is a subject of the study.
