The rapid development of digital technologies has significantly reshaped international trade and financial systems, increasing the importance of digital standards as a foundation for effective cross-border interactions. The growing use of electronic data exchange, digital platforms, and automated processes requires unified approaches to ensure compatibility, transparency, and security within the global economic environment. However, the lack of harmonized digital standards creates barriers to international cooperation, complicates integration processes, and limits the efficiency of digital trade and financial operations. The relevance of the topic is driven by the uneven pace of digital transformation across countries, resulting in differences in technological capabilities, regulatory frameworks, and institutional development. Such disparities lead to fragmentation of digital ecosystems and hinder the formation of interoperable systems necessary for seamless international exchange. At the same time, the increasing role of data in economic processes raises concerns related to cybersecurity, data protection, and trust in digital transactions, emphasizing the need for coordinated approaches to standardization. The article focuses on the conceptual understanding of digital standards as a complex system that combines technical, organizational, and regulatory dimensions. It highlights the challenges associated with aligning these components within a unified framework capable of ensuring compatibility between national systems. Special attention is given to the difficulties of coordinating standards at the international level due to differences in legal systems, economic priorities, and levels of digital development. The discussion also addresses issues related to the absence of a unified global coordination mechanism, the fragmentation of institutional responsibilities, and the limited involvement of business entities in standardization processes. In addition, the problem of regulatory divergence in areas such as data protection and digital identification is emphasized as a factor complicating cross-border interactions. Overall, the article outlines key aspects of digital standardization as a critical element of modern international economic relations and highlights the need for integrated approaches to its development.
