UKRAINIAN-AZERBAIJANI RELATIONS UNDER THE PRESIDENCY OF PETRO POROSHENKO

Анотація

The article attempts to consider Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations under the leadership of Petro Poroshenko.The interaction between Ukraine and Azerbaijan in the security, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres that confirms the status of relations between states as strategic is analyzed.The influence of the events of 2014 on bilateral relations is highlighted especially in maintaining of the principle of territorial integrity in bilateral relations.For example, Ukraine does not recognize the legitimacy of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, in particular the referendum held in 2017, thus supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.In turn, Baku does not recognize the legitimacy of a referendum held by Russia in the Crimea, and condemns Russian aggression in the east of Ukraine.However, official Baku has its own national interests and support partnership with Russia.Ukraine's relations with Azerbaijan in the economic sphere under the presidency of Petro Poroshenko have reaffirmed their stability, and have also become the manifestation of Kyiv's energy independence from Moscow (in particular, in the context of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline).Cooperation between the states in the energy sector have become more active because of activities of the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR on the energy market of Ukraine.It should be noted that the broadcast of the Ukrainian state television channel "UA / TV" in Azerbaijan has been a positive impulse for the development of Ukraine's public diplomacy.Such actions of Ukraine contribute to the objective dissemination of information about the events in the country, in view of Russia's hybrid war against Ukraine.The authors came to the conclusion that under the presidency of Petro Poroshenko since 2014 Ukraine and Azerbaijan have confirmed their relations as strategic and cooperate as equal partners, respecting the national interests of each other.
