THE EFFECT OF THE WAR ON THE AUTOMOBILE TRUCK TRANSPORTATION MARKET OF UKRAINE AND ITS FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

Анотація

The purpose of the study is to analyze the impact of a full-scale invasion of Russia to the market of automobile truck transportation in Ukraine, to determine the possibilities of strengthening the competitive advantages of road carriers and directions for their further development. The research used problem-oriented, abstract-logical methods, as well as methods of analysis, synthesis, and generalization. The cargo transport market in general plays an important role in ensuring the functioning of the economy of Ukraine and the population with all the necessary goods. By volume of cargo transportation, the largest share is occupied by railway and road transport. Their competitors are water and air transport. The mobility and flexibility of road transport when transporting cargo in conditions of blockade of ports, and closure of the airspace of Ukraine, opens up significant opportunities for its further use. The results of the study showed that the Ukrainian market of road freight transport is highly competitive, but it was negatively affected by the military actions, as well as the consequences of the destruction of the transport infrastructure, the reduction of GDP, the economic crisis, inflation, and the increase in fuel prices. Today, the supply of services on the road freight transportation market exceeds the paying demand, which forces truck carriers to look for ways to strengthen their competitive advantages. It was determined that these include raising the level of service, expanding the range of services, active use of various sales and promotion methods within the framework of the formation of one’s marketing activities on the market, and establishing and individualizing relations with customers. An important event in the direction of the integration of the Ukrainian economy into the European economy was the introduction in the summer of 2022 of “transport visa-free”, in accordance with which the need for Ukrainian road carriers to obtain deficient permits for both bilateral and transit transport with the countries of the European Union was canceled for one year. Today, it is road transport in the Ukrainian freight transportation market that has the best chances for further restoration of its pre-war performance indicators.
