CONTEMPORARY TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE UKRAINIAN IT-SECTOR: QUANTITATIVE METRICS
Анотація
. This article analyzes the quantitative trends in the development of the Ukrainian IT sector over the past decade, with a specific focus on the period from 2021 to 2025. The relevance of this study is underscored by the IT sector’s pivotal role as a key driver of economic growth and innovation, particularly amidst the unprecedented geopolitical and economic challenges facing Ukraine. The full-scale war has acted as a catalyst for significant structural transformations, necessitating a thorough and systematic analysis to understand the industry's resilience and future trajectory. The research aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of key quantitative metrics that define the development trends of the IT market. The methodology integrates statistical analysis of official industry data, an examination of regulatory documents, and a synthesis of reports from leading analytical companies. This multi-faceted approach allows for a robust assessment of the sector's performance, including its challenges and opportunities. The findings reveal a stark contrast between the pre-2022 period of stable growth and the subsequent phase of stagnation and structural shifts. A notable decline in the number of active IT-companies and a reduction in the workforce, particularly Individual Entrepreneur (IEs), have been identified as primary consequences of the war. These trends are further exacerbated by the migration of skilled professionals, a decrease in global service demand, and the increasing influence of artificial intelligence, which collectively intensify competition for employment within the sector. Despite these significant challenges, the study also highlights several positive and adaptive trends. The geographical redistribution of the IT-community within the country is evident, with Lviv strengthening its position as a major hub, while Kyiv maintains its leading role despite a temporary outflow of specialists. Furthermore, there is a discernible increase in the proportion of women among IT IEs and students pursuing IT-specialties, as well as a growing corporate investment in reskilling initiatives. These factors collectively point to the sector's intrinsic dynamism and significant potential for adaptation and sustained development. The results provide a crucial basis for developing informed public policy and strategic business decisions to ensure the continued competitiveness and growth of the Ukrainian IT-industry on the global stage.
