DEMOGRAPHIC CRISIS: POPULATION SIZE AND FAMILY QUALITY

Анотація

The article analyzes the demographic crisis as a multidimensional phenomenon that encompasses not only a decline in population size but also profound qualitative transformations within the institution of the family. The author emphasizes a socio-philosophical approach to demography, which combines quantitative analysis [birth rate, mortality, migration] with the study of moral and value orientations, the culture of parenthood, and the processes of child socialization. Particular attention is paid to the impact of war, secularization, individualism, and gender emancipation on demographic behavior and the demographic security of the country.The study demonstrates that modernization processes, changes in worldview orientations, and value shifts significantly influence reproductive behavior and the perception of the family as a fundamental social value. The demographic consequences of the war in Ukraine are analyzed, including mass forced migration, psychological trauma, the disruption of family structures, and intergenerational imbalance. It is emphasized that war intensifies the demographic crisis not only quantitatively but also qualitatively, undermining the sense of security, stability, and trust in the future.It is determined that socio-philosophical guidelines indicate the need for profound civilizational changes - from a technocratic to an anthropological vision of demographic processes. Not just “more people”, but “more conscious, dignified, responsible life” - such a vector can become the basis for a sustainable restoration of human potential in Ukraine and the world as a whole.It is concluded that overcoming the demographic crisis is possible only through a rethinking of the role of the family as the basic unit of society, the affirmation of the value of responsible parenthood, and the restoration of the humanistic foundations of social development. The necessity of a new model of demographic policy is substantiated one based on the integration of instrumental, moral, and cultural factors.
