Анотація

The study analyzes the specifics and identifies prospects for the application of digital technologies in the construction industry in Russia and globally. The topic is relevant given that the global construction industry is the largest sector of the economy, accounting for 13% of global GDP and a total market size of $11.39 trillion. The average annual growth rate of the industry is expected to reach 5.5% over the next five years. The drivers of this market’s development are the world’s growing population, progressive urbanization, improving quality of life, and government support. Digitalization of construction is progressing in different directions and at different rates in individual countries, with differentiated government support measures. This indicates the need to summarize accumulated experience and identify options for its application by Russian companies. The article presents government approaches to activating digitalization in the construction industry in various countries, particularly in the United States, Singapore, China, and the Russian Federation. It has been established that government support and regulation of the use of building information modeling is one of the most important tools for the industry’s development in the digital age. The scientific significance of the obtained results lies in the identification of key areas of transformation in the global construction industry under the influence of digitalization, including: appropriate delivery of construction materials; refining safety and minimizing risks; practice digital technologies to succeed labor-intensive changes; warranting higher correctness of digital data in comparison to old-style methods. Options for implementation artificial intelligence to increase value for engineering and construction companies are proposed, constraints to the digitalization of domestic construction are identified, and the digitalization tasks for Russian construction companies in the near future are outlined.
