REGIONAL FEATURES OF THE "GREEN ECONOMY"
Анотація
In today's conditions of globalization and growing environmental risks, the concept of a “green economy” is gaining particular importance against the backdrop of global climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution. According to the World Economic Forum's 2024 Global Risks Report, environmental risks dominate among the long-term global threats to the international economy. In this regard, governments, as well as international organizations and the private sector, are implementing tools and mechanisms of the “green economy”, which involves achieving economic development while preserving the environment and ensuring social justice. Despite the active implementation of relevant practices, the impact of the “green economy” on the socio-economic aspects of countries' development remains ambiguous and requires a comprehensive analysis, which determines the choice of topic for this article. The article examines the main regional features of the green economy: the European Union, Asia, and the United States. Common features and regional specificities of each region are identified. The main differences are due to different institutional approaches, the degree of policy coordination between countries, the level of economic development, and available resources. It has been found that comprehensive and consistent strategies that integrate environmental, economic and social aspects are the most effective. The most effective models are found in European Union countries such as Germany and Sweden, while the progress of other countries, including China and Canada, is mixed, with significant achievements in some areas and challenges in others. It was found that the key barriers are institutional weakness, high energy and raw material dependence, low level of environmental awareness among consumers and entrepreneurs, and the significant destructive impact of Russian aggression. Green economy is one of the tools for economic recovery in the post-war period, overcoming existing challenges: further harmonization of Ukrainian policy with the European Green Deal, implementation of a comprehensive strategy for renewable energy using the potential of hydro and wind energy.
