The ecological aspect of sustainable development: modelling results using the Environmental Performance Index
Анотація
Abstract The demand for a “clean, comfortable, and safe environment” as a public good has surged globally, prompting stricter environmental regulations in many countries. This paper examines the impact of these regulations on environmental welfare, using EPI. The research employs the SARIMAX model to forecast future EPI trends, emphasizing the need for continuous evaluation of individual environmental policy criteria to ensure accurate predictions and effective policy interventions. Regression analysis reveals that key predictors of environmental well-being in the Global West include climate change mitigation, ecosystem preservation, biodiversity conservation, and water pollution reduction. In African countries, climate change remains crucial, alongside biodiversity conservation and combating deforestation.
