SOLVING PLANT HEALTH PROBLEMS IN GREEN AGRICULTURE: EUROPEAN PRACTICES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN UKRAINE
Анотація
This article analyzes current approaches to addressing plant health issues in the context of implementing the European Green Deal. It identifies the key challenges facing the agricultural sector as a result of the de-intensification of synthetic pesticide and agrochemical use. It substantiates the role of phytosanitary safety as a key element of the agricultural sector’s sustainable development and a component of food security. The main provisions of the European Union’s strategic documents, in particular the “Farm to Fork” Strategy and EU legislation in the field of plant health, which provide for a reduction in the use of chemical plant protection products and the minimization of their negative impact on the environment and human health, were examined. Particular attention is paid to the biologization of plant protection systems, integrated pest management, and the use of environmentally safe methods for controlling harmful organisms as effective tools for ensuring the phytosanitary resilience of agroecosystems. It has been demonstrated that the implementation of biologically sound approaches contributes to increasing the resilience of agrocenoses, preserving biodiversity, and adapting agriculture to climate change. It is concluded that the implementation of the principles of the European Green Deal into the national plant health management system is advisable as an important prerequisite for the sustainable development of agricultural production. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of using the obtained results to implement biological and integrated plant protection systems with the aim of improving phytosanitary safety, reducing pesticide use, and adapting agricultural production to the requirements of the European Green Deal.
