The Architectural and Landscape Organization of the Riverine Areas

New approaches to the environmentally responsible design, based on architectural and landscape reorganization of streamside territories along with increased natural components of the environment, the eco-directed and natural protective principles of modern landscape design are extremely topical today. The restoration of riverine local resources of degraded landscapes for new usage, the conservation and protection of environment, improving the quality of urban environment – they are modern challenges for science, practice and education. This course of lectures expounds the theory of the architectural-landscape organization of the streamside territories; the wide range of objects of landscape planning is considered, from the complexes of streamside territories of Dnieper river, through the natural reserved territories to planning design of urbane embankments. Each object into consideration supplied with the modern examples of implemented planning practice. The guidelines to the program of eco-responsible planning of the riversides are worked out. They include the complex of the architectural-landscape solutions combined with engineer-technological, management, scientific, technical and other actions, that should be fulfilled at all levels: state, regional and local.
