The growth of U.S. public debt: macroeconomic determinants, structural dynamics, and fiscal sustainability challenges
Анотація
This article analyzes the determinants of US public debt growth from 2020 to 2024, its macroeconomic consequences, and the structural changes in the debt-to-GDP ratio.Data on debt dynamics, debt burden, and US fiscal policy during this period are used.The paper identifies the key factors contributing to fiscal imbalance, including demographic changes, rising healthcare costs, increased interest payments, and insufficient tax revenues.The dual nature of the US public debt growth process is revealed, and it is proposed that the fiscal corridor be considered as an alternative to public debt growth.
