POSSIBILITIES OF INTEGRATION OF UKRAINE INTO GLOBAL VALUE CHAINS OF TITANIUM PRODUCTS FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES PRODUCTION
Анотація
Introduction. The full-scale invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine reduces the loyalty of foreign countries to the procurements of metal titanium from the aggressor country and therefore creates for Ukraine the prospect of replacement on the global market, as well as integration into the global value chains of not only aviation production, but also the manufacture of titanium-containing medical products. The purpose of the study is to determine the capability of the national titanium production for the expansion of the domestic market of Ukraine and integration into global value chains of titanium-containing medical products. Materials and methods. The study is based on official data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine and the State Customs Service of Ukraine, on analytical data and reports of international statistical and marketing organizations, the results of scientific research obtained by domestic and foreign scientists, and other sources of information. Such general scientific methods as analysis, synthesis, comparison, induction, and deduction were used, as well as special methods of economic science – statistical and economic analysis, expert evaluations. Results and discussion. The global demand for medical titanium and products made of it is increasing; the domestic market of Ukraine is also expanding. At the same time, Ukraine remains import-dependent on foreign medical products made of titanium – instruments, prostheses and other means for dentistry, surgery, neurology and other fields of medicine. The volume of production of titanium-containing medical products in Ukraine decreases every year. Establishing own production requires modernization of metal titanium production and its certification, as well as development of own research centers and production sites for medical products of intermediate (components, parts) and final consumption. This will make it possible to deepen the processing of titanium raw materials and increase the competitiveness of the national industry. Conclusions. Ukraine has its own raw material base, which can be expanded, to produce metal titanium of appropriate quality and standards to use in the production of medical goods. The realization of this potential requires significant capital investments in equipment (in particular, the purchase of vacuum-arc furnaces) and certification, as well as state support at various stages of production development – from credit support to economic diplomacy measures in the promotion of nationally produced products on world markets. Keywords: titanium-containing products for medical purposes, international trade, metallurgy production, technological modernization, global market
