THE PHENOMENON OF MIGRATION AND ITS IMPACT ON DEMOGRAPHIC PROCESSES

Adrian Bukovynskyy

Анотація

The article presents a socio-philosophical analysis of migration as a multidimensional phenomenon that significantly affects Ukraine’s demographic security. It is emphasized that migration has not only a quantitative demographic dimension but also profound anthropological, moral-ethical, and axiological aspects. The study examines internal and external migration, the phenomenon of internally displaced persons, the loss of home as a symbolic and ontological space, as well as the social and cultural transformations caused by forced displacement during an existential war. It is shown that forced migration disrupts established social ties, weakens the institution of the family, transforms reproductive behavior, and undermines mechanisms of intergenerational continuity, which collectively have a negative impact on demographic security. The article substantiates that demographic security depends not only on population size but also on the quality of social relations, the moral integrity of society, and the potential of the family as a fundamental social institution. From the perspective of social philosophy, migration is interpreted simultaneously as a challenge and as a potential resource for social renewal, the realization of which requires the formation of a new humanistic paradigm based on the principles of responsibility, dignity, and social inclusion. It is concluded that overcoming the demographic crisis is possible only through the combination of effective governance measures with a profound rethinking of the value foundations of societal development.
