RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT AS A FACTOR OF SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

According to current UN forecasts, only 16 % of the sustainable development goals can be achieved by 2030. Only partial progress or even regression is predicted for the remaining goals. Nevertheless, the sustainable development agenda remains relevant for most countries in the world today, the regulatory framework continues to improve, new international and national initiatives are being implemented. The concept of ESG business management is developing especially rapidly. Increasing environmental awareness among investors contributes to a change in their investment preferences and a gradual increase in demand for ESG projects and responsible investment. The study is devoted to the study of responsible investment as a factor in the sustainable development of business and the economy as a whole. The work provides a general idea of the responsible investment market: the relationship between responsible investment and the concepts of responsible financing, «green», sustainable investment is characterized; a chronology of international initiatives in the development of the sustainable development agenda, the concept of ESG and responsible investment is presented; the main participants in the responsible investment market are listed and examples of responsible investment are given. An analysis of analytical data from domestic and foreign sources on ESG investing for the period 2020 — 2024 was conducted: the main drivers for the implementation of a sustainable business model were grouped; a grouping of private investors in relation to ESG investing was presented; assessments of Russian investors regarding the level and frequency of influence of ESG criteria on the value of shares and yield / spreads of corporate bonds were given. Tasks were formulated, the solution of which contributes to the development of a responsible investment system in Russia
