Safety and Security Management at International Airports: A Study of Passenger Perceptions and Operational Practices

Анотація

The aviation industry is a highly dynamic sector where safety and security are essential for successful airport operations. International airports handle millions of passengers each year and must ensure the safety of passengers, employees, aircraft, and airport infrastructure. To achieve this, airports implement strict security procedures, advanced technologies, and effective management systems (ICAO, 2022). This study examines safety and security management practices at international airports and focuses on areas such as passenger screening, baggage security, surveillance systems, access control, and employee training. The findings show that passengers generally feel safer when visible security measures such as CCTV cameras, security personnel, and baggage screening systems are in place (IATA, 2023). the study highlights the importance of balancing strong security measures with passenger convenience. While security screening and verification procedures may sometimes increase waiting times, most passengers recognize their importance in ensuring safe travel. The research suggests that airports should continue improving security processes through better technology, efficient passenger flow management, and regular staff training to provide both safety and a smooth travel experience (ACI, 2023; Wells, Young, & Wells, 2019). The study concludes that effective safety and security management enhances passenger confidence and supports efficient airport operations. Continuous staff training, regular security audits, and the adoption of modern technologies are essential for maintaining a safe and secure airport environment (ICAO, 2018).
