HEALTH AND LIFE EXPECTANCY IN THE STRUCTURE OF QUALITY-OF-LIFE RESILIENCE OF THE POPULATION OF UKRAINE: A CONCEPTUAL MODEL

Introduction. In the context of war, prolonged socio-economic transformations, and increasing security risks, the preservation of population health and life expectancy becomes a key prerequisite for maintaining quality-of-life resilience. Health in this context is viewed not only as an outcome of the functioning of social systems, but also as an active resource that enhances the population’s capacity to adapt to crisis-related shocks. Purpose of the study. The purpose of the study is to substantiate and develop a conceptual model that explains the interrelationship between population health, life expectancy, and quality-of-life resilience under conditions of prolonged economic, political, and security crises in Ukraine. Research methods. The study is based on the analysis of data from open sources, materials of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the World Health Organization, and the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. The research employs a systemic and comparative approach, statistical analysis, analytical generalisation, and conceptual modelling. Results. It is substantiated that population health is shaped by a complex interaction of individual, socio-economic, and institutional determinants and, at the same time, determines the potential for life expectancy and quality-of-life resilience. The proposed model demonstrates the cyclical nature of the relationships between health status, life expectancy, and quality-of-life resilience, where improvements in one component generate positive changes in the others. The results show that quality-of-life resilience functions as a mechanism that mitigates the negative effects of stress-related and traumatic factors, supporting physical and mental well-being under crisis conditions. Prospects. Prospects for further research include an in-depth analysis of regional and socio-demographic differences in population health, life expectancy, and quality-of-life resilience, as well as an assessment of the long-term consequences of the war for physical and mental health and the development of strategies for sustainable post-war recovery.
