Social significance and environmental safety of the enterprise

Environmental safety is one of the most important aspects of sustainable development of modern society, which directly affects the quality of life of every citizen. Ensuring the right to a safe and healthy environment is not only the basis for improving the environmental situation, but also a prerequisite for the conservation of biodiversity, natural resources and sustainable use of ecosystems. One of the most effective tools for achieving this goal is environmental monitoring, which allows systematic monitoring of the state of the environment, identifying potential threats and negative trends in ecosystems. Environmental risk assessment is carried out by analyzing the current state of environmental pollution, using monitoring methods and modeling environmental consequences. Through continuous data collection, analysis and forecasting, monitoring becomes the basis for developing effective measures to protect the environment and improve the quality of life. In this context, the study of environmental safety and monitoring of the natural environment is becoming key to understanding the current problems faced by modern society and finding ways to solve them. The article is devoted to an environmental study of the activities of Zhytomyr Cardboard Mill LLC (the company), one of the leading enterprises in the field of cardboard production in Ukraine. The paper analyzes the impact of the plant's production processes on the environment, in particular, on the quality of air and water resources in the vicinity of the enterprise. The purpose of this article is to analyze the importance of environmental monitoring as a tool for ensuring environmental safety, to determine its role in assessing the environmental situation and developing measures aimed at preventing environmental degradation. The assessment of the environmental situation is based on the results of monitoring pollutant emissions, as well as on the study of the waste management system and environmental protection measures implemented at the enterprise. The principal activity of Zhytomyr Cardboard Mill LLC is the production of cardboard and paper. In the course of production activities, the following environmental components are affected: atmospheric air, water resources and accumulated waste. The company is continuously implementing environmentalization in the following areas: eco-management, eco-interaction, and eco-production. Air emissions are generated by mobile and stationary sources. They are carried out in accordance with the planned activities and do not exceed the MPC. In the course of production activities at Zhytomyr Cardboard Mill LLC, there is no direct impact on the water environment, and water protection legislation is complied with. Waste is generated of the 1st and 4th hazard class. The equipped places for their temporary placement and transfer to the relevant waste disposal institutions in accordance with the agreements concluded by the company has a positive impact on the social and economic indicators of Zhytomyr city. Environmental monitoring allows for timely assessment of the level of air, water, soil, and other environmental components pollution, which is important for preventing environmental disasters and degradation of natural resources. The results obtained can serve as a basis for developing recommendations for improving air quality in the region, optimizing the location of observation points, creating additional green areas, and developing comprehensive strategies for managing air pollution.
