PECULIARITIES OF THE FUNCTIONING OF THE PIPE INDUSTRY IN UKRAINE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE FORMATION OF MECHANISMS FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE COUNTRY’S SOCIO-ECONOMIC SYSTEMS

The subject of this research is the specific functioning of Ukraine's large-diameter pipe industry in the broader context of forming, strengthening, and adapting effective mechanisms for the protection and stabilization of the country's socio-economic systems during wartime and the transition to post-war recovery. This sector is examined as a critical element of national industrial resilience, with particular emphasis on its strategic, infrastructural, and energy-related significance. The study explores the industrial potential and export-import dynamics of the pipe industry using statistical and analytical data from 2022-2023, revealing major trends, growth constraints, and new opportunities. The analysis addresses the significant disruptions caused by Russia’s full-scale invasion, such as infrastructure damage, logistical bottlenecks, partial market loss, decreased investment activity, and heightened geopolitical risks. Additionally, the study underscores the vulnerability of Ukraine’s industrial sovereignty due to external technological and raw material dependencies. It emphasizes the necessity to support the domestic pipeline engineering sector as part of the country's defense-industrial ecosystem and as a lever for economic stabilization. Recommendations focus on strategic state support for key producers, modernization of production facilities through innovation, restoration of production chains, development of substitute materials, expansion into new export markets, and the application of digital and green transformation principles. Institutional and legal instruments for protecting strategic industries are also examined through the prism of economic security. The article concludes that revitalizing the pipe industry is essential not only for economic recovery, but also for the formation of a robust, crisis-resistant framework for defending Ukraine's economic sovereignty, particularly in the context of hybrid threats and global economic shifts. Strengthening this industry is an indispensable component of sustainable development and long-term national resilience.
