Mass emigration from Ukraine: history and present Summary. The phenomenon of Ukrainian emigration as part of world Ukrainianism is a unique
phenomenon in the history of Ukraine.
The current military aggression of Russia against Ukraine has led to a new wave of multi-million emigration from Ukraine, as a result of which the problem of holistic classification of this unique
phenomenon has arisen: to consider modern forced emigration during the war as the fifth wave or,
taking into account the history of the mass exodus of Ukrainians outside the Motherland, to propose
a hypothesis about seven real and clearly defined stages in the history and modernity of Ukrainian
emigration? After all, before the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, not four, but
six waves of mass emigration were historically documented. In this case, the current, newest wave of
forced Ukrainian emigration to more than 140 countries of the world logically becomes the seventh
according to our first proposed classification of the history and modernity of tectonic resettlement of
the inhabitants of Ukraine outside its geographical borders.
