The purpose of the study is to conceptualize management mechanisms for forming competitive advantages in the agricultural sector based on sustainable development under globalization and to develop a conceptual architecture for the corresponding management cycle. The relevance of the study stems from the fact that, amid fierce global competition and intensifying integration processes, sustainable development is transforming from an “additional requirement” into the strategic foundation of long-term competitiveness. However, scientific literature has not sufficiently explored management approaches to align sustainable development goals with the current economic interests of business entities and to provide the instrumental support needed to form sustainable competitive advantages. The methodological basis of the work comprises general scientific and special methods of cognition: comparative-genetic analysis (to study the evolution of the sustainable development concept), systems analysis and logical generalization (to systematize and deepen the conceptual and categorical apparatus of “management,” “formation,” “competitive advantages,” “sustainable development,” and “sustainable development management,” as well as to develop the author’s interpretation of the integral concept of forming competitive advantages based on sustainable development in a global context), the matrix method (SWOT analysis) (to diagnose the strategic potential, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of Ukraine’s agricultural sector), and structural-functional modeling (to construct the conceptual architecture of the mechanism). The results of the study consist of the formulation of a management logic that views competitive advantages as a subsystem within the sustainable development management system of the agricultural sector under globalization. It is substantiated that the sustainable competitive advantages of modern agribusiness are achieved through the systemic alignment of business entities’ economic interests with the imperatives of environmental safety and social responsibility. The author’s concept of ‘forming competitive advantages of sustainable development in the context of globalization’ has been developed using the agricultural sector as an example, viewing environmental and social imperatives as strategic assets for enterprises. The SWOT analysis showed that, despite asset losses and logistical constraints stemming from military actions, Ukraine’s agricultural sector retains significant adaptive potential, which can be realized through management decisions focused on sustainable transformation. The scientific novelty of the results lies in the development of a comprehensive six-block conceptual architecture for the mechanism that forms competitive advantages in the agricultural sector through sustainable development in a globalized environment. Unlike linear approaches, this architecture is based on an iterative management cycle and includes defining goals and tasks considering national priorities; analytical diagnostics and potential assessment; planning programs and measures (including the regional dimension); assessing and forecasting competitive outcomes and risks of sustainable development; making management decisions; and monitoring results and adjusting development programs based on feedback. It has been proven that sustainable development initiatives should be viewed not as an additional cost, but as a strategic asset for creating long-term (including non-financial) value and competitive resilience. Keywords: formation mechanism, competitive advantages, agricultural industry, sustainable development management, globalization.
