Analysis of the Socio-Economic Condition of Ukraine’S Regions in the Context of Transformational Changes: Challenges and Prospects

Abstract The article is analyzes to the study of the socio-economic condition of the regions of Ukraine in the conditions of global and national transformations. In the conditions of transformational changes caused by global challenges and internal factors (military operations, pandemic, economic crises), the socioeconomic condition of Ukraine’s regions is undergoing significant changes. The study of this issue makes it possible to orientate regional policy on the priority areas of recovery and sustainable development. The relevance of the study is due to significant disparities in the socio-economic development of the regions of Ukraine, which have increased in the conditions of transformational changes and armed conflict. The purpose of the study is to analyze the socio-economic condition of the regions of Ukraine, identify key challenges and formulate recommendations for overcoming them and ensuring sustainable development. Successful development of regions requires scientifically based solutions to overcome existing challenges and determine promising policy directions. The problem is insufficient adaptation of existing regional strategies to modern conditions and global challenges. Special attention is focused on the challenges caused by military actions, demographic changes and social migration. Prospective directions of regional policy are determined, provided that it is directed towards European integration. The findings of the study indicate the need for an integrated approach to solving the problems of regional development. It is proposed to ensure the decentralization of management with an emphasis on local development; stimulate the diversification of the regional economy; develop infrastructure, especially in affected regions; implement mechanisms for preserving human capital by improving the quality of education and health care. The practical implementation of these recommendations will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of regions, ensuring sustainable development and reducing disparities in their socio-economic condition.
