MODELING THE PROFITABILITY OF AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES

Анотація

The article is devoted to the research of profitability of enterprises in the agricultural sector and modeling the profitability of such enterprises. The essence of such concepts as profit and profitability is defined in the article. The feasibility of modeling the profitability of agricultural enterprises and the importance of this study for the Ukrainian economy are substantiated. The author analyzes the state of agriculture in Ukraine; identifies the positive factors that contribute to the development of business in this area of the economy, and the negative factors that impede the development of agriculture. The main trends of agricultural development, the consequences and major risks associated with its development for the Ukrainian economy are revealed. Existing profitability models are analyzed. One of them was chosen as the basic and reasonable expediency of using this model. Based on the literature used, hypotheses about the main factors affecting profitability are formulated; using the econometric apparatus and statistical packages, a mathematical economic model was built on the basis of data from such Ukrainian agricultural enterprises as Agromino, Agroton, AgroGeneration Group and Grain Aliance. A number of tests were conducted to verify the model for adequacy, namely: testing the model for robustness and validity, verifying if maybe there are not influences that may distort the model's results and lead to false conclusions. Detailed descriptions of each test are provided to demonstrate that the conclusions are reliable and correct. Based on the obtained results, the reliability of the hypotheses previously set, the regularities of influence of factors and the power of this influence on profitability were determined. Based on the results obtained, the author formulated recommendations for adjusting the independent variables of the model in order to bring them to the optimum state in which the production efficiency will be increased and the profitability will be maximized; he describes the reasons for the results obtained. There are formulated recommendations on improving the state of agriculture in Ukraine.
