Analysis of the content of professional training for masters in food technology

Анотація

The article analyzes the content of professional training for Masters in Food Technology based on a competency-based approach. It is established that the modern system of training future specialists in the food industry is implemented in accordance with trends in societal development, science and production, social demand, labor market needs, and the specifics of the technological process. The study examines the components and stages of the system for structuring the content of Master’s education in Food Technology. The competency-based approach is considered from the perspective of purposeful educational process design, wherein the content of professional training is defined through a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, abilities, and competencies required for successful professional activity, as well as value-based attitudes toward the future profession and the hierarchical structuring of educational competencies. It is noted that the competency-based approach serves as the foundation for developing higher education standards, and the level of formation of general and professional competencies among graduates is one of the key criteria for assessing the quality of their professional training. Based on the study of educational standards, requirements for the content, scope, and outcomes of professional training, as well as an analysis of scientific and methodological literature, the core program competencies that a graduate of the “Food Technology” specialization at the Master’s level of higher education should demonstrate have been identified. The essential general professional competencies required for performing production tasks, carrying out job responsibilities, and executing professional functions include: socio-personal, communicative, predictive, instrumental, research, health-preserving, self-educational, and information competencies. The professional competencies of future specialists have been categorized into core professional competencies (organizational-coordinative, controldiagnostic, legal, technological, managerial) and specialized professional competencies (mastery of innovative research methods in food industry enterprises; understanding of economic and organizational foundations of professional activity; ability to ensure food product quality and standardization; capacity for self-development and professional growth; skills in implementing innovative forms and methods of professional practice). Each of these competencies has been thoroughly characterized.
