The influence of European integration processes on the transformation of the sanctions policy of Ukraine

The experience of the European integration of our country in the conditions of a full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war has a unique character. Nowadays, resisting the armed Russian intervention, suffering from great human and financial and economic losses, Ukraine is becoming a candidate for joining the European Union (hereinafter – the EU), deepening its partnership with the EU and continuing European integration in various areas, as well as carrying out recommendations of the European Commission and implements in practice the main provisions and norms of the Association Agreement. The integration of Ukraine into the EU is a complex multi-level process that covers various spheres of social life. This strategic choice of Ukrainian society is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. The Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union entered into force in 2017. The specificity of the current stage of European integration is determined by a complex of multifaceted challenges and threats. Evaluating the state and peculiarities of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU during the war period, it is necessary to first of all note their clear and consistent political and diplomatic solidarity. Military, financial, and humanitarian support of our state is of great importance today. It is obvious that there is a need to improve the existing tools of aid and accumulation of resources, taking into account the scale, state and dynamics of the war. The deepening and development of economic cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, namely: the introduction of «visa-free regimes», the liberalization of mutual trade, etc., is becoming important in the joint opposition to Russian expansion. An important area of cooperation between our state and the EU countries is the introduction of sanctions aimed at countering Russian aggression.  Today, the effective implementation of the sanctions policy and its impact on the economy of the aggressor and the countries supporting it have become important for Ukraine and the EU states. The purpose of the article is to investigate the impact of European integration processes on the transformation of Ukraine’s sanctions policy, to analyze its significance for our country in wartime conditions.
